Chinese Consulate in Durban Has a Team Meeting with Independent Media's Regional Editors

On 19th September 2019, the Chinese Consulate General in Durban held a team meeting between its consular officers and South Africa Independent Media's editorial team in KwaZulu Natal Province. Editors from The Mercury, Post, Sunday Tribune, Independent on Saturday and iSolezwe (Zulu language newspaper) were present.

                                                 

 

Consul General Fei Xingxing welcomed editors headed by Yogas Nair, Independent Media's Regional Executive Editor and Editor of The Mercury and answered their questions regarding the trade war between China and the United States, China's development experience, China's policy on religion as well as Tibet and Xinjiang. Consular officers and editors also exchanged views on gender violence and development prospects of South Africa and China-Africa relations.

 

Yogas Nair and other editors thanked consular officers for their answers and insights. They regretted that they had not been to China yet and are very keen to learn more about and understand better of China, hoping for a field trip to China in near future.
