On 3 February, Consul General Li Zhigong attended the seminar themed “Doing Business with China.”

In his remarks, Consul General Li noted that China will continue to advance high-standard opening up and welcomes more high-quality African products to enter the Chinese market in a compliant and sustainable manner. He encouraged the South African business community to seize the opportunities arising from China’s announcement of zero-tariff treatment for African products, and to work together to promote the effective and timely implementation of relevant policies, so as to support economic development in both countries, achieve mutual benefit and win-win results, and deliver greater benefits to the peoples of China and South Africa.

Co-hosted by the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the eThekwini Municipality, the seminar focused on registration procedures for exporters to China, compliance requirements, and market opportunities. Representatives from the Chinese business community with extensive experience in China–South Africa trade delivered presentations on China’s customs registration processes and the sister-province cooperation between KwaZulu-Natal and Guangdong. Members of the Durban Chamber and municipal representatives attended and took part in the discussion.
