On 5 June, Acting Consul General of China in Durban Miao Miao attended the Consular Corps Breakfast Meeting hosted by the Mayor of Ethekwini. Mayor Cyril Xaba delivered a keynote address, during which he briefed the consular corps on Durban’s economic and social development and expressed the city’s willingness to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with foreign consulates in Durban.

In her remarks, Acting Consul General Miao introduced China’s zero-tariff treatment for products exported to China from African countries and its positive role in promoting China-South Africa and China-Africa relations. She said that, taking the “China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges” as an opportunity, the Chinese Consulate General in Durban will actively promote Durban to relevant Chinese local governments and enterprises, and work to advance exchanges and cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, people-to-people exchanges and other fields.
